MadPea's Escape Room: Ghostly Gaol
The premise: You and yours (I dragged spek along, as usual) decide to head out for a tour of the Southern State Penitentiary... or as it's more commonly called, the Ghostly Gaol. The old prison is open for weekly ghost tours, and when you get into the entrance, you're greeted by Roxy, a friendly tour guide. The tour operates in small groups - and yours has already headed down in the elevator to start the tour, but no worry, she says, just head down and catch up.
The old gray and foreboding establishment was once home to some of the most disturbed criminals, and allegedly, thousands of prisoners died here. But, Roxy insists that the ghosts are harmless... spoiler alert: they're not.
The Details
Ghostly Gaol is probably one of the best escape rooms I've seen in SL! You're going to need at least a couple of hours, and I'd recommend bringing some friends along. Are there jump scares? Yes. Are there lots of puzzles? Also yes.
You'd need a game HUD, which is L$500, available at the main store. Once inside, make sure you have 'shared environment' enabled, and give yourself a little time for everything to load.
Certain choices you make can and will kill you. If you die in the Gaol, your avatar will be sent back to the beginning. To try again, simple detach and reattach the HUD and head back inside. Once a puzzle is solved, you don't have to solve it again, so you can quickly return to your last location.
If you don't like jump scares, this might not be the one for you. If you're not a fan of puzzles, again, might not be your cuppa. Additionally, there are flashing lights, so if you're sensitive to that, maybe steer clear.
When (if?) you make it out alive, there are some pretty cool prizes at the end. Additionally, this game awards achievements and points toward the MadPea Player Pass for 2023.
